Our charity auction “Home is Where the Heart Is” at Lewis & Maese Auctioneers for Boys and Girls Country of Houston last night (August 29th) was an amazing blend of generosity and joy as bidders purchased nearly 200 auction lots of beautiful transitional and contemporary furnishings! To all of you who bought an item at the preview party, had a winning bid last night, or made an outright contribution to Boys and Girls—THANK YOU! To recap–the brand new furniture was donated to Boys and Girls Country late last year and last night we officially auctioned it off to benefit this amazing organization headed by Lou Palma, its executive director. I was flattered to be chosen as the Honorary Chair and we had great fun working closely with Elaine Petranek of Boys and Girls Country, as well as David Lewis and Ernest Maese from the auction house. Elaine has such a willing spirit and she entrusted us to create and promote the Preview Party of August 23rd and the auction of August 29th. David and Ernest have incredibly big hearts and were an absolute delight to work with. Here are some of their thoughts this morning. From Elaine: “Thanks to you all for a great event. I truly appreciate your efforts and dedication to this undertaking and to our Home. I treasure the friendships we have made along the way. Blessings and my best to you all.” From J.R. Sult, chair of the Boys and Girls Country Board of Directors: “On behalf of the entire board of directors, I would like to add our sincere thanks as well for all your hard work on behalf of our children. We are truly blest to have good friends like you.” We especially appreciated David Lewis’
reply: “Friends? You all have become like family.” And his sentiment pretty much says it all! Once we have the final figures of dollars raised, I will blog an update. Meanwhile, you may make your donation directly online at the Boys and Girls Country site!
Classically yours, Bill
